SOtD: Backroads, Corey Taylor

SOtD: Backroads, Corey Taylor

I might be a little obsessed with Corey Taylor. Just a lil’ bit. I can’t say I like everything—Slipknot is a bit hard even for me. But his Stone Sour and his SOLO stuff especially? SWOOOOON worthy!! I love this song. So much so that the stupid song spawned a whole new series in my poor writer brain. The lyrics echo a man that’s a little battered and bruised from a life on the road. This is a perfect look into the Rockstar life and why they move me so very much in my writing.   *AUTHOR’s CORRECTION – Evidently there’s another Corey Taylor out there…and he’s totally different. WHOOPS! I watched some of Corey’s stuff on YT from when he went out an did some acoustic shows and totally thought this was more of the same! MY BAD!! Heck…I got a retweet from Joey Jordison from Slipknot! So I sure as shit thought it was one of Corey’s songs! Sooooo sorry, OTHER Corey!!...

SotD: Stay, Sugarland

I’m not a huge Sugarland fan. I find Jennifer Nettle’s voice a bit on the twangy side for me. But this song? This song is haunting and simple and will rip your guts out from stem to stern. Seriously amazing stuff. And the video just hurts. But the way the song changes from frailty to strength is the true mark of an amazing lyricist....

SOtD: Kill the Lights, Matt Nathanson

I haven’t done this in awhile, but I think it’s time to bring back my Song of the Day blogs. *sigh* I love this man. Seriously…probably to an unhealthy degree. He makes me laugh and he makes me think. His lyrics stick with me far more than any other artist. He’s a heady mixture of poet, defeatist, optimist, and the boy is an Aries thru and thru. Is it any wonder that I love him? This is his first venture into Kill the Lights for a live setting. It’s got a few bumps, but this shows why I love him so. Matt Nathanson in a live setting is pure...

Corey Taylor Obsession Pt 3

Okay…so in my continuing drool-fest over Corey Taylor I found this little diddy and laughed my damn head off. Who would ever think that Slipknot’s lead singer would do Wanted Dead or Alive–AND DO IT SO WELL!?! Holy crap. And OMG....

Corey Taylor Obsession pt 1

Okay…so I’ve been listening to Corey Taylor’s song with Dave Grohl ad nauseum which is the next post. But man. Any man that can show his humor and love for power ballads, you already have my heart. Poison’s Every Rose Has Its Thorn never quite sounded like this. Oh and a Bruce Springsteen ending? Yes…yes, Corey you are officially on my radar....
